Our Mission:
Build.
Giving kids the tools to become anything they want to be.
This class inspires kids to boost their creativity giving them confidence to create whatever they imagine. Through fun projects like making a fantasy structure with candy, kids learn about engineering, scale and architectural drawing. Culminating with the opportunity for kids to create their dream house.
Children will learn observation, creative problem solving and how to communicate their ideas through fun hands-on projects; skills which will help them in any subject.
Architecture incorporates the discipline of engineering and the creativity of art. It requires learning how to draw to communicate to builders and contractors. We believe this combination of science and creativity will be essential for many careers in the twenty first century.
In our classes we strive to teach that there is no one answer to a problem. The best solutions happen when a kid’s imagination faces the constraints of physics and materials. In design, there is no absolute answer, it’s very much like in real life.

“What’s the essence of STEM education? We think it’s designing and building something. Design is decision-making and problem-solving, and both these things are very relevant to daily life.” — Aspa Papazaharia
I am Aspa Papazaharia, Architect and founder of Architecture for Kids. As a mother I searched for ways to teach my children the lessons I learned from my career as an Architect. Since I couldn’t find the class I wanted I decided to create one.
“Architecture is not based on concrete and steel and the elements of the soil. It’s based on wonder.”
— Daniel Libeskind
Surrounded by iPhones and iPads most students lack simple mechanical skills. We think it’s essential to teach handicraft as a way to solve a technological problem. Ironically the engineers and designers who built the iPhone learned their design skills via hands on crafts. Steve Jobs famously explained how he learned about design by working with his father as a carpenter and by taking calligraphy classes in college.
Architecture incorporates the discipline of engineering and the creativity of art. It requires learning how to draw to communicate to builders and contractors. We believe this combination of science and creativity will be essential for many careers in the twenty first century.
